Daniel Radcliffe is a rare sight at awards shows, but when he makes an appearance, he makes it count.
At Saturday's Independent Spirit Awards in Los Angeles, the boy-wizard actor hinted at the splashy role he'll play at Sunday night's (February 23)Oscars. Earlier this month, the Academy revealed that Radcliffe, along with Charlize Theron, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum, would make a "special appearance" at Sunday's ceremony.

Daniel Radcliffe Teases 'Fun' Oscar Gig

"It's very exciting, and if it's all going to be as chilled out as this, that's very excellent," Radcliffe told MTV News' Josh Horowitz.
So as not to spoil the surprise, Radcliffe only let a few tantalizing details slip.
"It's going to be fun," he said. "It's going to be different." Whatever the appearance entails, it's clear it is going to be more intensive than presenting or introducing: "I just hope we don't screw it up," Radcliffe added.

With the "Harry Potter" star's appearance planned on top of previously announced attractions like Adele's first live performance of "Skyfall" and a closing musical number, this year's Oscars are shaping up to be one of the most anticipated in years.
Radcliffe also praised host Seth MacFarlane's hands-on preparations. "I think what Seth McFarlane is doing, in terms of how involved he is with every single aspect of the show, is really, really admirable," he said. "It's kind of really wonderful."
